1~ WHAT DO THESE LINES MEAN TO YOU??

The lines “The dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they act their dreams with open eyes, to make is possible” at the beginning of the book ‘Touching The Void’ mean that dreamers of the day are conscious and aware of their thoughts and dreams therefore are able to act upon them and try to accomplish them. They are dangerous as they may try anything in order to achieve them and their risk of death becomes a reality. Those who dream at night are not aware that they are dreaming and are most likely unable to make them come true, they wake to realize that it was all fake visions building up in their mind.

My first impression of Joe Simpson is that he seems like a very confident mountaineer. He’s enthusiastic about what he loves and sounds like he feels at home in nature. Richards seems like a very independent traveller as joe explains that “usually he travelled alone…” and “his travelling companion was shot dead by trigger-happy soldiers in Uganda.” I think Joe and Simon view him as quite a laid back character because he says “Simon and I had found Richard in a sleazy hotel in Lima.”

5~ WHY WOULD THE MEN’S DISTANCE CAUSE THEM PROBLEMS WHEN SOMETHING GOES WRONG??

When encountered with difficulties during their climb, being far away from the nearest village can be problematic as they have no way of getting the bad news to people. If there were to be an emergency like in ‘Touching The Void’ the last thing you need is
